Our first annual The Fur Ball, a benefit for Caring for Cats, presented by My & My Sisters Gift Shop and hosted by Holiday Isle Beach Resort & Marina on April 30, 2010, was a success. Thank you to all of our supports, sponsors and guests for helping us to make Fur Ball possible and a success!!!

THE FUR BALL 2011
A big Meow:
I am so excited that we have a date for our second annual the Fur Ball and that Holiday Isle Beach Resort & Marina will be our host again. Please mark your calendar for Friday, April 15, 2011.
But I am also excited to announce that we have a Fur Ball 2011 Committee in place and had our first committee meeting on July 12, 201l. We have wonderful committee members who bring great ideas to the table for our next year’s event and I am happy to announce that Helen Baitz will be on board again after she has been a great help with Fur Ball 2010.
Please meet our Committee Members: Jessica Mintz, Helen Baitz, Margie Schwartz, Melissa Oden (Island Pet Company), Carolyn Sellers (Chesapeake Resort), Nancy Warner, Kari Maino (Hawks Cay Realty), Angela Cagle & Adrienne Kasheta.
We still have a couple of spots left on the committee and if you are able to meet every 5-6 weeks for a couple of hours and can spare 2-3 hours per week, we would love to have you!
It is also great to hear that DJ Bobby Fox will be back to provide the music and entertainment again, that several people and businesses stepped forward to become sponsors and most of our Fur Ball 2010 sponsors will take part again.
We soon will have a Facebook page set up for Fur Ball 2011 and already started to accept sponsorships. If you would like to make donation or sponsorship in form of cash, merchandise, services or gift certificates, please let us know. We have also started a “Million Penny Drive” which will help us to raise funds for Fur Ball 2011.

THE LOCATION
The Fur Ball's location is a beautiful Beach Pavilion setting at the Holiday Isle Beach Resort & Marina in Islamorada, Florida. No matter if weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, corporate events or graduations - the large Tiki Hut, the tiki torches and the beautiful ocean view with private beach area will make your event one to remember. Watch a beautiful sunset from the Pavilion's private beach while sipping on a cold drink, enjoying delicious food and dancing the night away. If you prefer an indoor-location, you will love "The Horizon" meeting/ball room. THE FUR BALL 2010
Hello:
I have coordinated several fundraisers for animal rescue groups back in Tennessee and was excited to take on my first fundraiser in the Florida Keys. Of course, it was not a very easy challenge since I was new to the Keys and still had to figure out “who is who” in and how the Florida Keys “celebrate” certain events. It was not easy to figure out who to contact for possible sponsorships or to help with the coordination of The Fur Ball. But at the end, it turned out to be a great experience to coordinate the Fur Ball with all the support I have received and meeting so many wonderful people. I even have to admit that The Fur Ball was the most fun event I have ever coordinated.
Of course, The Fur Ball could have never taken place and turn out to be a success if it would not have been for our supporters and sponsors like Tracie Hubbard with Holiday Isle Beach Resort & Marina, Melissa Oden of Island Pet Company, Mimi Young with TIB Bank, Margie Schwartz with Caring for Cats/Me & My Sisters Gift Shop, Grace with Emerald Transportation Services and Dorothy Shaw with Stinkfree Direct. Not to mention our wonderful volunteers, Helen Baitz who was in charge of the silent auction and was there with me from the beginning, Ellen Reed & Chuck Ross who gave a lending hand wherever one was needed.
Tracie and her staff did such a wonderful job with the set up of the tents, chairs and tables and even if the tents had to weight down due to strong winds, the set up still looked beautiful. The Hors D’Oeuvres were also delicious and ranged from fried Grouper Fingers to Italian Meatballs with Garlic Rolls, from Vegetable Crudite Platter to Cucumber & Boursin Cheese Finger Sandwichs, from Domestic and Important Cheese to Chicken Skewers in Thai Peanut Sauce and to a yummy Chocolate Fondue with Pound Cake, Pretzels and Strawberries for dipping. A large selection of alcoholic beverages and mix drinks was also available.
Entertainment and music was provided by DJ Bobby Fox who did an awesome job playing a variety of 80s hits and to get people on the dance floor. Bobby became everyone’s favourite in a heartbeat and we cannot wait to have him back for our next year’s event.
The silent auction was a big hit and guests had the opportunity to bid on various gift baskets, a limousine ride by Emerald Transportation Services, Paintings provided by Theater of the Sea, various gift certificates and 2 large cat trees donated by Chuck Ross and Armarkat. We also gave a way a DIVD player and great door-prizes.
Thank you, Margie & Caring for Cats, for giving me the opportunity to coordinate the first annual Fur Ball 2010, and for all the support I have received. It was a blast and I so look forward to Fur Ball 2011 and hope to see all of you there.
